Award-Winning Children's Musician Gary Rosen Releases New Album Features songs of Winnie the Pooh author a.a. Milne Those lucky enough to have seen Gary Rosen and his children perform live know that at some point during the show a special, secret bear wearing a red vest and a big smile strolls out from the wings, usually looking for some honey. The children at the show can't get enough of this visitor (which can be a problem for the person behind the mask), and they won't be able to get enough of Gary 's new recording, either, entitled “Gary Rosen Sings a.a. Milne.” Featuring The Hums of Pooh like “Poor Little Tigger” and “The More It Snows,” the CD includes songs about the familiar characters found in Christopher Robin's Hundred Acre Wood. This collection of 18 songs was composed by Milne's contemporary, Harold Fraser-Simson. As in Gary 's other award-winning CDs, this recording features songs that are perky, upbeat, and memorable for both adults and children (and memorable in a good way). The CD also includes four classic songs, like “Discover the Pole,” sung by Lela, Penn and Eliza Rosen. The recording is also a miracle created by technology. Shortly after being diagnosed with ALS (or Lou Gehrig's disease) Gary had to stop performing. But he found previously unreleased songs recorded in 2001, and in the studio he combined these with his children's live performances. This allowed Gary to sit in the studio and watch and listen as his children sang with him again.
Penn, now sixteen and heading into his senior year in high school,
as been an all-Vermont musician for the last three years. He received
rave reviews as the lead in his high school's musical, Children of
Eden, and is a founding member of a high school a cappella group. Gary also enlisted local musical talent to fill out the sound. Dan Dewalt plays piano, trombone, and accordion while Alison Hale accompanies on the flute and Felice Swados plays the harp. “Gary Rosen Sings a.a. Milne” is available now at www. garyrosenkidsmusic .com and at P.O. Box 651 , Brattleboro , VT 05302 for $14.98 plus $2.50 shipping and handling. Contact Information: Lela Rosen, (802) 257-9566
